Ask Not What Your Government Can Do for You but What You Can Do for Yourself |
|
That phrase is a take off of the famous John F Kennedy acceptance speech of 1960. Today more and more Americans are looking to the government to solve all their problems. We have lost the will to take responsibility for ourselves and our families. My parents came to this country as immigrants from Europe way before there was any government assistance. They realized the American dream was their's if they worked hard, and saved their money. They bought a home, sent their kids to school, paid doctor bills all without one cent of government money. Can anyone do that Today?
Lyndon Johnson created the " Great Society" which has turned many Americans from being self reliant to relying on the government. Stop and think about what's happening today. The mortgage industry is in crisis because of bad loans so here comes the government that will bail out the banks and give assistance to homeowners who are behind in their payments. So when do we take responsibility for our own actions?
Hey I messed up...but as that Grammy winning song of a few years ago said " Don't worry be Happy" because the government will make it all good.
The size of government gets bigger and bigger because of entitlements and other government programs which has eroded Americans reliance on themselves. Pretty soon if this trend continues the government will just issue us all US Bucks cards that we can swipe for anything we need. Oh, in order to pay for that the government will just print more money surely sending the whole country into a economic catastrophe.
If we do not change the course of our continued reliance on government to provide for all our needs we will have not created the "Great Society" but will have created the end of it. It will take a political revolution to change the course of government.
That's the way I see It
